Neither Safety Switches or Circuit Breakers protect against dangerous electrical surges coming into the home.
Fuses and circuit breakers are not Safety Switches, they are designed to safeguard electrical circuits from overloading to protect property.
Safety switches monitor the flow of electricity through a circuit and detect a problem that may pose a risk to personal safety and turn the power
off within 0.03 of a second and must be installed in every switchboard.
Safety Switches must be tested regularly as they have a limited life.
Safety Switch that trip off could indicate a possible earth leakage problem due to faulty wiring or appliance or the possibility of excessive loads on a circuit.
Additional circuits may need to be installed from the switchboard to reduce the load. If a Safety Switch trips out immediately, or soon after being reset,
then it is highly likely that you have a faulty appliance. You will need to disconnect all appliances on the protected circuit and individually test each one until
you find the fault or have the Safety Switch replaced by your electrician.
Press the test button at least twice each year to test that the safety switch is working properly to cut the power. Ideally do this before you re set your clocks for daylight savings..
Damaged Power Points, cracked or loose or overloaded with adapters these and multiple Power boards should be replaced by individual double power points.Ask your electrician to check and load test all your powerpoints.
